About Adrian Scharfetter

I’m Dr. Adrian Scharfetter

I became a therapist because I've seen what's possible when we finally feel truly seen in our relationships, with ourselves and with the people we love. I know what it's like to feel stuck, invisible, or miles away from someone who matters deeply to you. And I also know that real healing happens when we give ourselves permission to slow down, listen to what's been buried, and do the brave, tender work of showing up, first to ourselves, and then to each other.

I'm an AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist and Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with over a decade of experience. My work is:

Relational & Depth-Oriented: We don't just address symptoms, we explore the deeper patterns, wounds, and beliefs that shape how you relate to yourself and others.

Sex-Positive & Affirming: I provide LGBTQ+-affirming, kink-positive care that honors all expressions of sexuality and relationship structures. You won't find judgment here—only curiosity, respect, and support.

Trauma-Informed & Somatic: I understand that healing happens in the body as well as the mind. We'll work with both emotional and somatic experiences to create lasting change.

Integrative & Personalized: I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and somatic approaches, tailored specifically to what you need.

Process-Oriented, Not Prescriptive: I follow where you need to go, at the pace that feels right for you. This is your journey, and I'm here to walk alongside you.

What Sets My Work Apart

Specialized Expertise: As an AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist, I have advanced training that most therapists don't. This means I can address sexual and intimacy concerns with depth, nuance, and clinical skill.

Flexible Formats: Beyond traditional weekly therapy, I offer Couples Intensives (3-hour, 6-hour, and multi-day sessions) for those seeking concentrated, transformative work. I also provide Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAP) for individuals and couples interested in deeper therapeutic exploration.

You're Seen as a Whole Person: Not a diagnosis, not a problem to fix, a whole, complex human being deserving of compassionate, personalized care.

You don't need permission to want more from your sexual or relational life.

But if you're waiting for a sign, this is it.

You don't need to have it all figured out. You don't need to be "bad enough." You just need to be ready for something to shift.

Start with a free consultation. See if it feels right. Take it from there.

The only thing you risk is staying stuck.
